OOpenArt – an easy way to Open Access
Akadémiai Kiadó announced a new optional ‘open access’ publication model for authors from March, 2007. The amendment of the traditional subscription-based business model called OOpenArt (Optional Open Article) is a chance for scientists to publish open access papers in the online edition of our journals. OOpenArt papers are published in the printed versions also as well as all the other ones. Peer-review process and quality requirements are the same in case of both traditional and OOpenArt manuscripts.

Since OOpenArt papers are readable by everyone without subscription, an article processing charge should be paid by authors to cover the publication cost of peer-review, prepress, online, etc. operations.  It was our main goal to find a business solution that is clear, attractive and affordable. Price of an OOpenArt article is 900 EUR (1125 USD) but can be even less. Akadémiai Kiadó offers 50% discount for corresponding authors of a) Hungarian institutions b) institution of low- and middle-income countries c) subscribing institutions. Discounts may not be combined, all these authors should pay 450 EUR (562 USD).

Beside new manuscripts OOpenArt can work with papers already published. Authors can ask for opening their archive article when they pay the fee.
