Akadémiai Kiadó began to renew its legendary comprehensive dictionaries in 1998 to meet the requirements of modern times. The vocabulary of the French comprehensive dictionaries is based on Sándor Eckhardt's legacy but they are published in a modernised and extended version. As regards the vocabulary of technical terms the editors of the dictionary laid a strong emphasis on updating. Words were collected in almost sixty larger fields of the vocabulary thus new headwords can be found in the subject matters of biology, medicine, informatics, electronics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, law, agriculture, food processing, traffic, environment protection, sports, tourism, economy, banking, stock exchange, international relations, trade, marketing, media, military technical terms, education, religions and linguistics.
