This volume describes 17th to 19th Century Hungarian peasant costumes in the context of how the nobility and city-dwellers dressed, using a previously less explored set of sources: guild price limitations for masters manufacturing clothing. The analysis found while initially during this period Hungarian costumes were influenced by Turkish style, by the Balkan trade, the Western fashion had a strong influence on the clothing too. By the 19th Century, however, Western mode became the key influence for the Hungarian peasant costume.
