This dictionary was based on the third, completely revised and renewed edition of the picture dictionary (Bildwörterbuch) that was published as the third volume of the German "Ten-volume Duden" dictionary series. The basic idea of the dictionary is the recognition that certain pieces of information can be conveyed more precisely and clearly through pictures than in explanations or descriptions. Frequently a picture representation can better give unambiguous information on the meaning of the word than any of the most accurate definitions. The pictures of the book illustrate objects from the most varied fields of life in thematic order. On the facing pages of the dictionary readers can see the picture representation of the most important notions of certain fields and next to them the corresponding vocabulary in the form of Hungarian words with numeric codes and their German equivalents. In addition to this, the Hungarian and German words with their numeric codes are listed alphabetically separately in the second part of the book. This dictionary is an indispensable complement to all other Hungarian-German and German-Hungarian dictionaries because of its vocabulary which includes the technical terms of various professional fields.
