This textbook was written for learners of English language. It offers an inside view into an essential field of modern language-teaching by providing help to acquire information on the history, politics, society, geography and culture of four English speaking countries. In the book each unit of the four is devoted to a certain country: Great Britain, Australia, the United States of America and Canada. The book is remarkably suitable for studies both at secondary schools and at the English departments of various higher grades of education. The readings offer current information and up-to-date vocabulary followed by comprehension, vocabulary building, grammatical and translation exercises. Several of the exercises compare the conditions in Hungary with those of the English speaking countries, thus the book meets the special requirements of Hungarian learners. Its group and individual exercises are suitable for studies in classroom or at home as well. The vocabulary at the end of the book, which is listed according to the units, makes vocabulary learning easy. The answer key, also at the end of the book, helps students to check their solutions quickly.
